There’s a reason that I never left..

I’ve always believed that there was something magical about Derbyshire.

I’ve lived here all my life, yet I’ve never stopped discovering somewhere new. Every season reveals a different landscape, every village has its own character, and every winding path seems to lead to another story waiting to be uncovered.

For a while during my younger years I felt the wonder of the wild Lancashire sea and felt happily dizzy at the spinning bright lights of London. But I always felt the sleepy rolling hills of the Derbyshire Dales gently but persistently calling to me, isn’t it time to come home?

The older I’ve become, the more I’ve realised that extraordinary places don’t always lie hundreds of miles away. Some of the most memorable adventures can be found right here, often just around the next bend in a Derbyshire lane.

That’s why I created Magical Derbyshire.

I created Magical Derbyshire to make it easier for others to discover the places that have stayed with me for a lifetime. I’ve always been drawn to the places that feel just a little different—where history lingers, nature inspires and every path promises a story. My hope is that somewhere within these pages you’ll find a place to laugh with friends, spend unhurried time with family, discover something unexpected and create memories you’ll carry with you long after you’ve returned home. If that happens, then this blog has done exactly what it was created to do.
